“Vishwanatha Ashtakam” is a Sanskrit hymn composed in praise of Lord Shiva, specifically in his form as Vishwanatha, the Lord of the Universe. The hymn consists of eight verses (ashtakam) that glorify Shiva and describe his attributes, deeds, and the benefits of worshiping him.

The Vishwanatha Ashtakam speaks highly about God Shiva as the supreme deity who transcends time and space, ruling over the universe with his infinite power and grace. God Shiva is described as having an auspicious form, adorned with sacred ash, the crescent moon, and the holy Ganges river flowing from his matted hair. He is depicted as the destroyer of evil and ignorance, protecting his devotees from all forms of harm and leading them towards spiritual enlightenment.
