Na me dvesha ragau na me lobha mohau ।
Na me vai mado naiva matsarya bhavaha ॥
Na dharmo na chartho na kamo na mokshaha ।
Chidananda rupah shivo’ham shivo’ham ॥

Na cha sangatham naiva muktir na meyaha ।
Chidananda rupah shivo’ham shivo’ham ॥

Nirvana Shatakam is a revered Hindu hymn composed by Shri Adi Shankaracharya. Shri Adi Shankaracharya walked towards the cave on the banks of Holy river Narmada to meet his Guru Shri Bhagat Govindapada. Upon sensing Shri Adi Shankaracharya’s arrival, his Guru came out of the cave and asked to introduce who he was. This is when Shri Adi Shankaracharya composed and gave the world “Nirvana Shatakam”.

This masterpiece, also known as the “Song of Liberation,” eloquently describe the state of spiritual liberation and the ultimate reality.

Nirvana Shatakam:

  • Describes the state of Nirvana, where the individual ego dissolves
  • Explores the nature of the Self, beyond human limitations
  • Expresses detachment from worldly desires and attachments
  • Seeks union with the ultimate reality, Brahman
  • Celebrates the freedom from the cycle of birth and death
  • Embodies the essence of Advaita Vedanta

The Nirvana Shatakam is a cherished part of Hindu spiritual heritage, often recited and studied by spiritual seekers and scholars alike.
